Canon John Clark

Parish Priest

Canon John Clark

I was ordained priest at Aylesford Priory on the 23rd June 1974 and appointed as curate to St Gertrude’s Parish, South Croydon where I served for 4 years. In May 1978 Archbishop Michael established the Southwark Catholic Youth Chaplaincy and I was appointed Youth Chaplain, a post I held for nine years.

I was then sent to Surrey Docks Rotherhithe to establish a new parish in the Docklands Development Area. In the eight years I was there the parish built a new church, priest’s flat and school. In 1995 I was asked to move to St Francis Parish in Maidstone.

I ministered there for 19 years until my present appointment at the Sacred Heart, Wimbledon. I arrived here on the 22nd May 2014 and was inducted as Parish Priest on the 26th June 2014.

I appreciate the opportunity to serve the people of this very special parish. I am conscious of the jesuit heritage of the parish and look forward to working with all the other priests in the parish as well as the members of the pastoral team and Parish Pastoral Council.
